In Japan, the price of cigarette was raised from December 1 of 1998.
Japanese government decided it to make up the deficit of JNL.
Why smokers should pay the deficit of JNL? When I was a boy, one day I stayed at the house of my grandad and grandam. I was watching a TV program with my grandam at night. It was a police story. In that story, a junkie killed a taxi driver to get money for a stimulant. My grandam said to me, "I'm afraid of junkie... I ask you to never use any drug, boy". It put heavy pressure on me. I started to smoke for getting my mind off. ...Spring of 1987, I could become a university student. And I had become a real heavy smoker. My mother doesn't smoke. She says to me "Why you smoke?". "It costs you much money. It make you bad health". Nonsmoker always says "Smoking does man no good and much harm". But cigarette kept me normal. Smoking does man some good... In short, I want to say is smoking is not a violation of the law. Please have a generous heart, nonsmokers! I shall continue to smoke. But if cigarette will be prohibited, I will stop smoking. Because it was my grandam's will. |
